Design and Repair of Multiple Fuel Facilities, Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport, Springfield, Illinois

ECC designed and repaired multiple fuel facilities at the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport, a civil-military airport at the Springfield Air National Guard, Illinois. Under contract with a US Air Force Civil Engineer Center, ECC repaired/replaced control valves; demolished vapor monitoring systems; repaired electrical controls and a spill containment trench drain system; modified a fill stand (aviation gasoline); installed numerous thermal and pressure relief valves; constructed a containment basin for the refueling parking area; installed grounding for two aboveground storage tanks; and designed and constructed two large scale canopies two protect two fill stands. ECC completed the work safely over multiple construction seasons due to winter conditions. All fieldwork was completed per the approved design and to the satisfaction of the end user (the Petroleum Oils and Lubricants [POL] Maintenance Facility), which vastly improved the facility’s ability to function both productively and safely during inclement weather conditions. ECC received an overall client rating of very good for schedule, management, and safety.
